Prof. Mohammed Aslam Faroqui is an accomplished Urdu scholar, author, researcher, educator and academic administrator with nearly three decades of experience in higher education, Urdu language and literature, curriculum development, research supervision, academic leadership and the promotion of Urdu through digital technology.
Born on 13 December 1969 in Nizamabad, Telangana, Prof. Faroqui completed his M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Urdu from the University of Hyderabad, along with UGC-NET and College Service Commission qualifications. His M.Phil. research, A Critical Study of Aziz Ahmad’s Novel Writing, was completed in 1996, while his Ph.D. research, Habib Hyderabadi: Art and Personality, was completed in 2006.
Academic & Professional Career
Prof. Faroqui began his professional career as a Sub-Editor with the daily newspaper Siasat during 1996–97. He entered government service on 20 August 1998 and subsequently served as a Junior Lecturer in Urdu and as an Assistant Professor of Urdu at several institutions, including Government Junior College Nagarkurnool, Government Girls Junior College Sangareddy, Government Degree College Zaheerabad, Girraj Government College Nizamabad and NTR College Mahabubnagar.
In 2022, he was promoted as Professor of Urdu and Principal of Government Degree College Zaheerabad, where he continues to serve as an academic leader.
During his career, he has also served in several additional academic and administrative capacities, including IQAC Coordinator, Vice-Principal, Urdu Counsellor, Board of Studies member and Chairman, contributing to curriculum development, quality enhancement and academic planning.

Prof. Faroqui is a prolific writer and has authored and edited numerous books on Urdu literature, criticism, science communication, ethics, human values, humour, literary personalities and autobiography.

He has also contributed to textbooks and educational publications for intermediate and undergraduate students, including Urdu literature, ethics and human values, gender sensitivity, value education, environmental science, science and human civilization, and Urdu and information technology.
Research & Academic Contributions
Prof. Faroqui has served as a Ph.D. Research Guide in Urdu at Osmania University, supervising research scholars in the field of Urdu studies. Several scholars have successfully completed their doctoral research under his guidance, while additional research scholars continue to benefit from his academic supervision.
He has served on various Boards of Studies and curriculum committees, including those associated with Osmania University, Telangana University, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, M.V.S. College Mahabubnagar, N.G. College Nalgonda and other institutions.
He has also contributed to the preparation and revision of university and intermediate-level Urdu curricula and has served as an examiner and paper setter for universities including Satavahana University, Telangana University and Yogi Vemana University, besides providing examination and academic services to Maulana Azad National Urdu University.
Promotion of Urdu Through Technology
One of Prof. Faroqui's distinctive contributions has been his effort to connect Urdu language and literature with information technology and digital media.
He has actively promoted Urdu typing, Urdu Unicode, digital Urdu learning materials, PowerPoint-based teaching, online lectures and social-media-based academic resources. His initiatives include the campaign “Urdu Script with Technology – Urdu on Phones, Urdu in Every Home”, aimed at making Urdu accessible through modern technology.
He has also provided freely accessible Urdu study materials, objective questions, notes and guidance for students and competitive-examination aspirants.
His YouTube channel “Aslam Faroqui” contains more than 200 educational and literary videos, including lectures, seminar papers and academic presentations. He has also maintained Urdu-focused blogs and online educational platforms.
Digital Education & Online Academic Initiatives
Prof. Faroqui has been an early adopter of online academic communication and has organised and delivered live lectures through digital platforms. He facilitated online lectures by scholars from different parts of India and abroad and contributed technical support to academic and research seminars.
He has also delivered television and radio programmes, including programmes on competitive-examination preparation, social media, education and literature through Doordarshan Hyderabad, All India Radio Hyderabad and other media platforms.

Prof. Faroqui has participated in numerous national and academic seminars organised by universities, colleges and government institutions. He has presented research papers on Urdu literature, culture, education, media and contemporary literary issues.

He has also served as a mentor to Urdu research scholars and has worked for the wider dissemination of Urdu educational resources.

Promotion of Language, Literature & Culture
Prof. Faroqui has consistently worked to strengthen Urdu language education and cultural awareness. His initiatives include programmes for International Mother Language Day, Urdu awareness campaigns, preparation of Urdu educational banners and digital learning resources, translation of selected literary works into Urdu, and the development of multilingual educational materials.
He has also translated literary works such as stories by Leo Tolstoy and Rabindranath Tagore into Urdu, contributing to literary and cultural exchange.
Religious & Social Outreach
Prof. Faroqui has also contributed to educational and informational initiatives for Haj pilgrims. Following his pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah in 2008, he developed the “Hajj Ka Safar” Urdu blog to provide guidance to prospective pilgrims. The platform attracted thousands of viewers and was complemented by educational videos and social-media presentations explaining the Hajj journey.
